Performance Index Rating.
That's the article.
Jokes, but it's almost just that simple. Performance Index Rating (PIR) is the main tool that most clubs and agents use to figure out how good a player is performing. I've seen teams complain about players who average 19 ppg but only average 13 PIR.
This is what a PIR is made up of:
(Points + Rebounds + Assists + Steals + Blocks + Fouls Drawn) – (Missed Field Goals + Missed Free Throws + Turnovers + Shots Rejected + Fouls Committed
If you can keep a rating higher than your total points, you are in good shape. That means you make more "winning stats" than bad ones.
Aspiring Pros need to focus on ways they can positively impact the game. I like this system because if you are not having the best scoring night, you could still have a high rating by getting busy defensively.
The thing that hurts you the most are missed free throws. If you make one free throw, you only get +1 point towards the rating but if you miss one free throw, you will get -2 so make your FT's!
